About wedding invitations
An Indian wedding is rarely one event. Between the roka and the reception there can be five or six separate functions, each with its own date, its own venue and often its own dress code, and a printed card struggles to hold them all without turning into a timetable. A film has room: one card per ceremony, held on screen long enough to read, in the order the week actually happens.
The conventions are worth keeping. Most families open with a deity — Ganesha for a Hindu wedding, Ek Onkar for a Sikh one, a crescent for a nikah — then the host line naming the parents who are inviting, then the couple with their parents’ lines beneath. Guests read those lines carefully; they are how an invitation signals whose family is hosting, and leaving them off reads as an oversight rather than a simplification.
Every design here is built on that grammar, so you fill in names and dates rather than arranging a layout. Preview it free with your own details on the screen, send it to the family group for the inevitable round of corrections, and pay only when the wording is settled.
What to put on the invitation
- Both families’ names
- The host line — "Together with their families" — and the parents’ lines under each name.
- Every function
- Mehendi, haldi, sangeet, the ceremony itself, reception: name, date, time and venue for each.
- The muhurat
- Where the family observes one, the auspicious time is usually printed under the wedding ceremony.
- RSVP contacts
- One or two names with phone numbers — typically a sibling or cousin, not the couple.
- A closing blessing
- "With best compliments from all family & friends", or the family’s own line.
In your language
The headings are set in the language, not transliterated — so the film reads as a card rather than as an English layout with translated text dropped in.
Wedding invitation questions
- How long should a wedding invitation video be?
- Between 45 and 70 seconds for a multi-event wedding. That is long enough to give each ceremony its own card and short enough that it gets watched all the way through on a phone. Save-the-dates work at 15 to 30 seconds.
- Can I make the invitation in my own language?
- Yes. Wedding designs render in 12 Indian languages across 10 scripts — Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Urdu and English. The headings are set in the language; you type the names in whichever script you prefer.
- Can I add our photographs?
- Most designs take one or two photographs, and several build the closing card around a cut-out of the couple. Upload them in the editor and you will see them in the preview before you pay.
- What do I get after paying?
- An HD portrait film sized for WhatsApp, a square version for Instagram, and a guest page with a live countdown, the programme and RSVP. You also get seven days of free re-edits in case a venue or timing changes.
